Darren is a senior at Gettysburg College majoring in English and minoring in Educational and Middle East and Islamic studies.
On his campus, he has held positions working as an Arabic and Education tutor, a library peer reference mentor, a Community Advisor for the Office of Residence Life, and a Fellow at Gettysburg’s Center for Public Service.
Darren seeks to continue his studies in Arabic, introduce himself to the field of journalism and engage with various community members while in Morocco. He has accumulated both political and cultural interest in the Arab World during his time as an undergraduate, and he hopes to broaden his understanding of the region through research and continued travel to Arab countries.
Darren’s not really sure what he wants to do with his life yet. He has an interest in non-profits, academia and potentially government work, but in general he seeks jobs that will combine his skills in writing and analytical thinking with a passion for human rights and social justice.
